Ballroom has always been more than performance. Born from Black and Latinx queer and trans communities in New York, it is a living legacy of radical self-expression, chosen family, and the ongoing fight to carve out space where none existed. 10s Across the Borders honours those roots with remarkable care, tracing how that legacy is embraced, safeguarded, and reimagined across Southeast Asia.

Following community leaders Xyza (Philippines), Sun (Thailand), and Teddy (Malaysia), director Sze-Wei Chan captures a movement sustained not by spectacle alone, but by the people who teach, organize, mentor, and show up for one another. Electrifying ballroom moments pulse alongside quiet acts of care, revealing that every category walked is supported by generations of love and labour. Joyous, thoughtful, and deeply rooted in ballroom’s history, this documentary celebrates a truth that reaches far beyond the runway: communities endure because people choose, again and again, to carry them forward.
