Presentation Themes

The Basics

Our introductory presentation introduces concepts and language around the diversity of sexual orientations and gender identities, and allyship through action. This 60-90 minute presentation includes screenings of short films and facilitated discussion. Our trained facilitators focus on opening up conversation, positive representation, and fostering a safer space for students to ask questions without judgment. This presentation is typically geared towards younger students from Grades 5-8.

Film Screening & Discussion

A more flexible arrangement allowing for engagements from 45 minutes to 2 hours. This option is great for celebrating all your favourite 2SLGBTQIA+ holidays throughout the year, for GSA student groups, and for larger audiences with less time for an in-depth presentation.

Media Literacy and Representation

This workshop allows students to move beyond the basics of allyship and inclusion. Using an inquiry-based learning approach, this workshop explores the value of diverse 2SLGBTQIA+ representation and provides students with tools to think critically about the media they consume. A minimum of 75 minutes is recommended. an also be delivered across 2 days for greater depth and learning. This presentation is typically geared towards older students in Grades 8-12 and GSA (Gender & Sexuality Alliance) groups.

Custom Workshops

We offer custom workshops for educators, parents & guardians, and corporate clients. Our team works with you to prepare a presentation tailored to your goals, whether you’re an educator trying to incorporate SOGI into your curriculum or an HR professional hoping to foster a more 2SLGBTQIA+-friendly workplace.

We offer presentations to youth and students in Grades 5 and up, as well as create custom workshops for educators, parents & caregivers, and corporations.

We offer presentations in person and online via Zoom throughout British Columbia. While most of our in-person presentations are in Metro Vancouver, our team goes on tour several times a year to other school districts around the province.

Since our program began in 2004, Out In Schools has visited every school district across the province of British Columbia, with many schools requesting repeat visits.

We offer our presentations on a sliding scale ranging from $150 to $1500 based on the type of presentation. Once you fill out the booking form, we will get in touch with more detailed information about your booking request.

We do our very best to accommodate changes where possible however, due to the high demand for our programs, it is unlikely we will be able to reschedule presentations with less than two weeks’ notice.

Additionally, we charge a non-refundable $100 deposit for youth presentations and $150 for educator workshops upon confirming a date for your presentation(s). This deposit will be put towards the total fee for service. Additional changes to your booking may incur additional fees.

In order for us to provide the best possible Out In Schools experience for your community, we have outlined our responsibilities and what we are asking from you as a host, such as:

  • confirming presentation details, 
  • supporting safety precautions for our team, 
  • and securing the necessary space (in-person presentations) or equipment (online presentations) ahead of time.
