But I’m a Cheerleader Day of Pink Drive-in Fundraiser

To mark the International Day of Pink in 2021, Out On Screen hosted a hybrid screening of But I’m a Cheerleader, a campy queer classic starring Natasha Lyonne and Clea DuVall. This fundraising event brought together our two core programs: the Festival programming team coordinated the film screening both online and in-person at the Twilight Drive-in Theatre (our second-ever drive-in film event!) and our Out In Schools team led a drop-in youth discussion on Zoom prior to the online film screening.

The event helped us to engage new and existing supporters throughout BC’s Lower Mainland, while also providing a much needed opportunity for young folks to connect throughout the province, all around a beautiful lesbian love story which heralded a turn in queer cinema with its initial 2000 release.
