Rêve ton futur – Tobi

Meet Tobi, 18, young queer, two-spirit, transmasculine, lesbian.

In his testimony, Tobi mentions that anti-queerness has its roots in colonialism. He refers to the rejection of 2SLGBTQI+ identities during the first wave of colonization, from the 15th to the 17th century, where the imposition of ideologies by colonizing countries erased, invisibilized and even criminalized the existence of 2SLGBTQI+ people. Let us think in particular of two-spiritedness which was violently erased and repressed, among other things by the residential school system in Canada.

This film is a part of the Dream Your Future project created by Les3sex*. In this project, 6 young people tell stories of reclamation and empowerment regarding their unique identities.
