2026 VQFF Pitch Competition

PUT YOUR BEST FILM FORWARD

After a successful and creatively invigorating first year, VQFF Pitch Competition is back, baby!

Five 2SLGBTQIA+ filmmaking teams will have the opportunity to pitch an original narrative proof of concept, digital series, or short film.

Move your project forward towards production, with a chance to win prizes, professional mentorship, and resources provided by Vancouver Queer Film Festival

This initiative is designed to support emerging and/or mid-career storytellers from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community by providing both professional and creative support to develop an  original, bold, and compelling project that reflects all of the wonderful weird corners of our creative community.

Each of the five projects will be in the running to receive one (or all!) of the prizes listed below, allocated by the jury based on the strengths and unique needs of each project.

Whether your story is personal, political, poetic, or playful—if it’s authentic and ready to be developed for production, we want to hear from you!

Up to five (5) projects will be selected to participate in a live pitch competition, presenting their original idea to a jury of film and TV industry professionals. The event takes place in front of a live audience on September 19 as part of the 38th annual VQFF.

Prizes include:

  • 5 full day in-kind Studio & Production Services at CC Productions ($3,000 value)
  • Professional mentorship
  • Free all-access industry pass to VQFF 2027
  • A submission waiver for VQFF 2027 and more!
