GERRY BRUNET MEMORIAL AWARD

BEST BC SHORT

The Gerry Brunet Memorial Award is named for a lifelong patron of the arts, and early Board Member of Out On Screen. Established in 1997, this juried award supports local 2SLGBTQIA+ filmmakers in their artistic practice. This award is generously supported by the Directors Guild of Canada-BC.

PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD

BEST FEATURE

The People's Choice Award for Best Feature recognizes a feature-length film which captured the hearts and minds of VQFF audiences. Each audience member is given the opportunity to vote for a film, and can vote for numerous films during the Festival. The title of People's Choice for Best Feature is awarded to the film with the highest proportion of votes, ensuring all films have the opportunity to be recognized for their achievements.

The People's Choice Award for Best Short recognizes a stand-out short film screened at the VQFF. Short films are both a common jumping off point for larger film careers and a phenomenal storytelling medium in their own right. The title of People's Choice for Best Short is awarded to the film with the highest proportion of votes, ensuring all short films, in all programs, have the opportunity to be recognized for their achievements.
