PITCH YOUR DREAM PROJECT
The inaugural VQFF Pitch Competition is a unique opportunity for one 2SLGBTQIA+ filmmaking team to develop an original, bold, and compelling story with professional mentorship and resources provided by Vancouver Queer Film Festival. This initiative is designed to support emerging and/or mid-career storytellers from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community by providing both professional and creative support to develop a narrative proof of concept, digital series, or short film that reflects the richness and diversity of queer experiences.
Whether your story is personal, political, poetic, or playful—if it’s fresh and ready to be developed, we want to hear from you!
Up to five (5) projects will be selected to participate in a live pitch competition, presenting their original idea to a jury of film and TV industry professionals. The event takes place in front of a live audience on Saturday, September 20, 2025 as part of the 37th annual VQFF.
The winning project will receive:
- Story Editing Mentorship with Lark Productions
- Director Mentorship
- 3 Days of Studio Space at Cracked Compass Media ($3000 value)
- Test Screening with VQFF’s Programming team
- Guaranteed public screening at a future VQFF*
*Screening must happen within three (3) years of receiving this award and will be dependent on project completion date and the filmmaker’s preferences for premiere status. World Premiere not required to be given to VQFF.
