Out of the Casting Closet

The Festival prides itself on curating content which ethically and authentically showcases the stories of LGBT2Q+ people from around the world. That standard includes selecting films which cast queer, trans, and two-spirit roles with actors from those communities. We recognize that this is not a universal standard and that multiple factors influence casting diversity. This panel discussion will include local casting agents and members of UBCP/ACTRA, along with other industry professionals, to discuss the ways in which casting decisions and role availability are influenced across the film industry, and the ways in which those influences are changing.
