50 Years of Fabulous recounts the rich history of the Imperial Council in San Francisco, one of the oldest and most influential organizations in the world. Director Jethro Patalinghug follows the Council from its genesis with founder José Julio Sarria, to its vital role in the advocacy for LGBTQ2S human rights by battling discrimination, HIV/AIDS, and homelessness. A mix of interviews with past Emperors and Empresses, commentary from historians, and archival footage make this timely documentary a fascinating and (as the title suggests) truly fabulous viewing experience. Come see where our own forty-seven year strong Imperial Court of Vancouver gets its roots.
